The five year MD program is designed for high school graduates intending to obtain an MD Degree. This program includes 4 semesters of premedical courses. Upon successful completion of 4 semesters of premedical courses, students are automatically allowed to complete the Basic Medical Science (pre-clinical) portion of the degree program with their counterparts in the 4-Year MD degree program.
If you are a recent High School graduate and are interested in getting admission into Medical School, then the 5 Year MD degree program is the most suitable option. The program consists of 2 academic years (4 semesters) of premedical courses followed by the 4 Year MD program. Students are exposed to many medical topics early in their education for a seamless transition into the Basic Medical Sciences..
The second year of medical school ends with the Introduction to Clinical Medicine program and enters into the third year to begin the Clinical Clerkship program. In the first two years of medical school, students focus on basic knowledge of health and disease and are introduced to the care of individuals and populations.
In the third and fourth years, students become directly involved in the care and study of patients. They begin to work with members of teams caring for hospitalized patients. Third-year students rotate through the following clerkships: 12-week rotations in Internal Medicine and Surgery and 6-week rotations in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Family Medicine.
